This is an example of what the surface of the ceramics may look like after being fired by wildfire. The above surface was achieved by pit-firing ceramic after applying a mixture of powdered copper carbonate and water, which is one of the glazes used for the Fireful of Fear tablets.
In September 2008, I placed a series of text ceramic works in various canyons in and around Malibu, CA, to eventually be fired by wildfire. However long it takes, the text pieces will remain in the landscape until firing is complete.
